We Need to Say It
That we can't or just don't say it is evidence of the problem. Maybe it's because we don't really believe it. Maybe we think it's not for the public square.
Every time another historic church in France or across Europe goes up in flames, the internet fills with outrage. Pundits and tourists lament the loss of heritage, the destruction of architecture, and the death of Western civilization.
They mourn the stone. But they killed the faith.
The Slow Burn of Apostasy
Europe didn’t wake up yesterday to find its churches empty and burning. The actual fire happened decades ago. France and Western Europe systematically dismantled the Kingship of Christ in their laws, schools, and families thirty to forty years before the United States began mirroring the exact same trajectory.
In 1980, France had tens of thousands of active parishes. Today, that number has plummeted by over 70%, with priests aging out and buildings converted into museums, skate parks, or cafés.
Yet, secular society still expects God to act as a cosmic security guard for a civilization that has evicted Him. A church without the presence of God is just kindling. If we have abandoned the covenant, why are we surprised when the physical boxes we left behind are given to the flames?
The Conservative Inc. Delusion
Listen to the talking heads on Fox News, or scroll through the feeds of the major conservative organizations. Listen to the pundits who promise you that if you just vote hard enough, donate enough, and watch enough segments, we can "turn the country around."
Have you ever heard any of them say the real problem?
You will hear them scream about immigration, school boards, and the secular left. But you will never hear them admit that we are no longer God’s people. They refuse to say it because they are just as invested in the secular machine as their opponents. They want the cultural fruits of Christianity—order, beauty, safety—without bowing to the King who demands repentance. They offer a political cure for a spiritual death.
Stop Watching. Start Attending.
The most dangerous thing you can do right now is break the habit of being a spectator.
If you are tired of the drift, if you are sick of the conservative entertainment complex, stop scrolling and do something real.
Attend a Bible-believing church this week.
If you are ready to take a stand for the truth, go with conviction and commit to the body of believers. But if you’re just tired—if you aren't sure where you stand anymore, but you know the secular world is a dead end—go anyway. Go to listen to the pastor. Go to drink the coffee and meet people who are trying to live outside the matrix of modern decay. You don’t need your life perfectly aligned to walk through the doors; you just need to show up.
Stop mourning the monuments. Start building the Church. Or at least go and say it out loud: We have abandoned the King, and no amount of political theater will save us. Let's stand up for Christ and His Church.
If this one landed, the next one will too.
